A Novelcrafter alternative: your saga's bible, without maintaining it
Novelcrafter gives you a Codex to build. SagaScope builds its own by reading what you write.
Build your bible, or let it build itself
Novelcrafter is a very complete writing studio, loved by authors who enjoy organizing their world: a Codex for characters, places and objects, with mention tracking and progressions, a plan by acts, chapters and scenes, and AI features to summarize scenes, extract characters or write from beats.
Those AI features run on your own API key: you pick a provider and a model, connect them to Novelcrafter, and usage is billed separately by that provider. Many authors value that control; others would rather configure nothing.
SagaScope is for the latter. There's no key to provide and no Codex to fill in before you write: import your manuscript or start writing, and the bible builds itself — characters, places, objects, facts, relationships, timeline. You correct what needs correcting, and SagaScope tells you when a passage contradicts what was established.

Which one should you choose?
Choose Novelcrafter if…
- you enjoy building and organizing your Codex yourself
- you want to pick your AI models and tune your prompts
- you want to generate text from your beats
- you write with others, as a team
Choose SagaScope if…
- you don't want to configure API keys or models
- you already have a manuscript and want its bible without retyping it
- you prefer alerts and views (graph, timeline) over a database to maintain
- you want the AI to leave your prose alone
Moving from Novelcrafter to SagaScope
There's no direct import of a Novelcrafter Codex, and you don't need one: import your manuscript (DOCX, EPUB, PDF, text or paste), SagaScope detects chapters and scenes and rebuilds the bible from the text itself.
Common questions
- Do I need an API key to use SagaScope?
- No. AI is included in SagaScope: no provider account to create, no key to connect, no model to choose. In-depth analyses use predictable monthly credits included in the subscription.
- Can I bring my Novelcrafter Codex?
- Not directly. But you only need to import your manuscript: SagaScope rebuilds the bible (characters, places, objects, facts, relationships) from the text, which you can then correct and complete.
- How does Novelcrafter's Codex differ from SagaScope's story bible?
- Novelcrafter's Codex is a database the author creates and organizes, with mention tracking, progressions and, on AI plans, character extraction. SagaScope's bible is built automatically from the manuscript, for every entity and established fact, and feeds the graph, the timeline and the consistency alerts.
- Does SagaScope write text for me?
- No. SagaScope does not draft chapters or scenes. It reads what you write to build your story bible, check consistency and give feedback. The Workshop suggests edits on a passage you select, and you decide on each one.
- Where is my data hosted, and is it used to train AI?
- SagaScope is hosted in the European Union (Paris) and subject to the GDPR. Our AI providers are configured not to train their models on your writing, and you remain the sole owner of your manuscript.
Write. The bible follows.
